Current and affiliated members can typically check out library materials typically for an entire semester.  An item you check out this semester generally will will be due on or around the first week of the next semester. If the item is recalled by another patron, however, you will be notified via email of a revised, earlier due date.

Auto or self-renewal of materials checked out to current members are in effect for a maximum total loan period of six months, including the renewals.

Restrictions apply for Everett Cafe books, which circulate for two weeks; print books on Reserve, which circulate for two hours; and some equipment, which circulates for six hours. Books from the closed stacks are subject to review for circulation, depending on their age and condition.

Please note that more than ten overdue items on an account will incur a block, as will a lost item.

Books requested to be placed on Hold at the First Floor Services Desk remain on Hold for seven days until they are returned to the Stacks.

More information can be found in our Circulation Policy.

Each Columbia library has its own borrowing policies. Please consult their website for those loan periods.
